2 Lessons I Learned From A Fishery? Part 2

Monday I blogged about a trip I took to one of the largest Fisheries in the country. You can read about the experience and lesson #1. Today I want to dive into lesson #2 that I learned while at the fishery.

LESSON #2

Our guide/owner that took us around the fishery made another comment that I thought was incredibly interesting about the fish they breed. He said that you can keep a fish any size you want by controlling its food source. By determining what type of food and how much a fish gets it will determine the size and length of the fish. He mentioned that you can keep a fish the same size for as long as you want by rationing its food.

Just like a fish will grow based on it’s environment it will also be limited or free to grow based on what it eats. He operate the same way. But not just with our physical food, but our spiritual food as well. Whatever we are feeding our mind will determine the size of our faith. The more we feed our mind the truth of God the more we will grow! However, the flip side is true as well. The more we feed our mind fear, doubt, and unbelief the more we will stifle our spiritual growth. We will grow to the size that our faith will allow us. Where our faith runs out is where our limits begin. One will never grow beyond their level of faith. So to grow your opportunities you must grow your faith.

What are you feeding yourself on a daily basis? What are you allowing to take root in your mind? How many times do we make an agreement with our doubt and fear? Every time we make and agreement with fear and doubt we pull ourselves further and further away from our potential. However, when we break fear and doubt and let faith drive our thoughts we are one step closer to living the destiny we have been called to live. This is why Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”

The more we think on “such things” the more we are in sync with the way God thinks. God is limitless, therefore we were created to think without limits and without self-doubt. To truly tap into faith is to truly operate at a level of thinking that surpasses the average skeptic. You cannot experience the power of God at work in your life if you don’t believe God to have given you that power. God has given us His power through His Spirit that transforms our mind to the mind of Christ. We are not to conform to the world’s thinking, which is negative, fearful, skeptical, untrusting. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind to think that way God thinks. And it is clear He thinks thoughts of love, power, peace, potential, success, and purpose.

Lesson #2…Feed yourself faith and you will grow to be limitless through Christ, a limitless God!
