In order to get the best out of people, you have to be able to see the best in them. You cannot truly respect someone until you value who they are. It is impossible to make someone truly feel important if you secretly feel they are a nobody. Instead of seeing the negative in a person, can you see the positive? Can you visualize what they are capable of? Are you able to pick out their strengths instead of their weaknesses? Ralph Waldo Emerson said,

“I have never met a man who was not my superior in some particular.”

Everyone has potential within them for greatness, however you have to decide if you can see it or not. If you do not see the best in people you will assume the worst in them. Too many people are waiting for others to mess up rather than cheering them on. No one responds well to someone who is lurking in the shadows expecting them to fail. We need to be the kind of people that see the good in others. When you see the good in others you are able to learn from them. Everyone has something to teach us if we will allow them to. It may not come through what they say, but it will come through what they do. Don’t belittle others and look past them. Instead be the kind of person that lifts others up no matter who they are! Mahatma Gandhi said,

“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”

Give people the benefit of the doubt. Live by an innocent until proven guilty attitude towards others, not guilty until proven innocent. You can’t fake seeing the best in others, your true feelings and assessment will show. If you lift yourself higher than others you will always look down on people. However, if you lift others higher you will always look up to them. Everyone deserves for someone to be a lifter in their life. Will you be a lifter? Will you take it upon yourself to impact others and lift them to a higher level? It may come through words, it may come through service, it may come through a smile, it may come through giving, it may come through prayer.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can,

in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

~  John Wesley ~

Tips To Lift Others To A Higher Level…

1. Go Out Of Your Way

We have to take our eyes off of ourselves and put them onto others. If you do not see the needs around you, you will not be able to give a helping hand. You have to learn how to be aware of others around you. That means you have to go out of your way to see the opportunities around you! Don’t drop your head in life and just go about YOUR business, see those around you that you can lift up.

2. Give What You Have

Meet the needs of others by giving what you have. Everyone has something to give to someone else. It doesn’t have to be materialistic. You can give people your time, your ear, your skills, your attention, your ideas, your hand, etc… Don’t make the excuse I don’t have anything to give, find your gifts and use them to help others.

2. Get Under Them

You can’t lift someone by placing yourself higher than them. The best way to lift another is to get under them by supporting them and pushing them up higher than you. Believe in others, encourage them, and get behind them. Don’t be negative and crush those around you by stepping on them, lift them by supporting them! Get behind peoples dreams, ideas, and efforts! Humble yourself to lift them higher!

What will you do to lift others up to a higher level? Who will you encourage today?
