Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote a beautiful and inspiring song they called, “Because He Lives.” There is a great story behind this song. Bill and Gloria were expecting another child. They were going through some difficulties during this season of their life. A sadness came over Gloria as she realized that this is a rough world to raise kids in and she worried about this baby’s future, as many of us with kids have contemplated. Soon after, God gave Bill and Gloria the words and melody to this song:

God sent his son, 
They called Him Jesus 
He came to love, heal and forgive
He bled and died to buy my pardon 
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow 
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, I know, He holds the future 
And life is worth the living just because He lives

How sweet to hold a newborn baby or to just walk with him around the park in a graco fastaction fold click connect stroller
And feel the pride and joy he gives 
But greater still the calm assurance 
This child can face uncertain days because He lives

And then one day, I’ll cross the river
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain
And then, as death gives way to vict’ry
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.

I love the words and heart of this song. Think about these things…

1. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow…

No matter what is going to happen we don’t have to face it alone. Christ gave His life so that we can wake up each morning with a fresh dose of His grace and goodness! His mercies are new everyday. We can face tomorrow because He has already prepare the way for us. His word says that He goes before us and the hills melt like wax in His presence. God makes a way even when there seems to be no way. We can wake up each morning knowing that He is God and He is good!

2. Because He lives, ALL fear is gone…

God has not given us a spirit of fear! We don’t have to fear because we know that He is in control! Fear exaggerates itself causing us to become spiritually paralyzed. We don’t have to become immobile, we are called to press on after that which God calls us to. When you think about His POWER, whom or what should we fear? Nothing is bigger than our God! Let your faith rise and your expectation raise. Fear is a mind-game of the enemy! God has given us a sound-mind and power since we are His children. We have nothing to fear, as a child of the most high God!

3. Because I know, I know, He holds the future…

Do you KNOW and believe that God holds the future for you? Do you realize that He has bigger plans for your future than you do? You may not know what the future holds, but know who holds the future! Your future is secure in the hands of God. Trust Him with your hopes, dreams, and desires. Your future will always get better if you allow God to control it. He has the best laid plans for your life more than you or anyone else! Your financial, spiritual, physical, relational, practical, emotional needs for the future are only found through Him.

4. And life is worth the living just because He lives

This is one of my favorite lines in the song…life is worth the living. Your life is worth more than you could ever imagine. It is worth so much that God sent His only son to die for it! Your value is not based on who you are, but on who’s you are! You are a child of God. He died for you to live. Never take your life for granted. Never waste your life. Never devalue your life. It is worth more than you’ll ever know. Life was meant to be lived, not just endured. Be a life-liver! That means you live life to the fullest because of the sacrifice and calling that God has on your life. There is nothing more convicting than to waste your life. You were created to live, never lose sight of your purpose.
