I have a deep embedded hurt that I have been holding onto for a long time now. I have suppressed it for years, but am now letting it out. I was never asked to be in the “Gifted & Talented” class in my elementary years at school. That’s right…many of my peers were, but I was left out. I am not talking about being the last one picked at the school playground games…I wasn’t even picked for the special “GT Class.” I am glad I have let that out now, I already feel relieved.

The truth is I’m really ok, but I do think that the whole “GT Class” model really messed with people’s minds. The message being sent was “some” are gifted & talented while I guess others weren’t. Some had potential but others didn’t. Hopefully no one was too discouraged by this, but the truth is many people believe they are left out when God handed out gifts & talents. And if they don’t feel they were left out they probably feel as though they just didn’t get as much “GT” as everyone else did. We have all struggled with feeling overwhelmed by our dreams and underwhelmed by our abilities to fulfill them. It is the gap that every successful person has had to overcome. In fact, if you don’t feel “The OverUnder Gap” at some point, it is a sure sign there is way more for you to do. If your dreams can easily be reached you aren’t dreaming big enough.

You know you have a calling from God when the road to get there seems impossible. If your dream doesn’t take some supernatural intervention then you’ll be limited to the natural. God sized dreams go beyond our current level of awareness and ability. But the good news is that we already have what it takes to achieve our dreams. We are gifted & talented to the extent of that which we currently need. When we step out and use what we have God gives us more for the journey. The reason you feel the gap is not because it’s impossible, it’s because God only gives you what you need for when you need it. As we step out and go He then pours out more gifts & talents for us to use. As you seek first His Kingdom He will ADD all the things you need to you.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

The reason you feel underwhelmed right now is because you don’t have everything you need yet, but you will when you get there. What you do have is exactly what you need to step out and get going. God never gives us all the answers and everything we need on the front end. He grows us by developing our faith as we step out and go.

What areas of your life are you feeling overwhelmed in and underwhelmed by your ability to do it? Know this, you have everything you need to take the next step. Did you get that? You currently have everything you need to take your next step. No matter where you are at, take the next step. It will require bold faith but know that as you go God gives. You are gifted & talented and are called by God to accomplish great things in this life. Don’t ever let fear, discouragement, or worry keep you from the destiny that God has for you! You are reading this right now because you need to know that you are gifted & talented and have a great future ahead of you…get going!
