Are you plugged in?
Appliances, lights, electronics, tools, etc… are useless unless they are plugged into a power source. They were created for great purposes but never reach their potential unless they are plugged in. They may look pretty, feel great, be hand-crafted by the best, but if they have no power they have no purpose.
Our life is much like these items…we were created and designed for great things but will never fully be used until we are plugged into THE power source, Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate power source that gives meaning to all things. When we get plugged into Him, His power begins to flow in us and through us. He is the ONE who holds all things.
Colossians 1:17
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
So how do we get connected to the power source?
1. Plug into the Word
The Bible is our source of power. It gives us the truth and wisdom of all things. It guides us as a road map for the life we are called to live. There is no power without God’s Word within us. The Word of God is powerful…
Hebrews 4:12
For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Knowing God’s Word opens the door giving us access to His power that helps us overcome. Quoting His promises and holding on to His truth is power. Get the word of God into you and let His power fill your life. Everything you need to know is in HIS Word. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Word of God.
2. Plug into Prayer
Prayer makes a difference. Prayer aligns us with God’s will. Prayer is simply having a conversation with God. We talk, we listen. We listen, we talk. God wants to communicate with us just as we want to communicate with Him. In order for God’s power to flow within us we need to have a direct line to Him. Prayer is the line of communication to God. It is the avenue in which we travel down to present our request and listen to His guidance. We have to make sure we are spending time in intentional prayer. Not praying over a meal or just saying a ritualistic good-night prayer. Real prayer is taking time to focus on God and talk with Him just like we would a close friend. When we spend time in prayer the Holy Spirit sends the marching orders to heaven and earth.
3. Plug into Serving
Jesus came not to be served but to serve. We are called to have a servant’s heart that looks out for the needs of others. One of the greatest ways God’s power flows into us is when we serve one another. The greatest expression of the heart of God is to serve. When we care about others and look out for their needs we are serving. Serving is not limited to just helping the homeless or helping someone move. Serving is simply about meeting the needs of others. So when a friend comes to you for advice you are serving them by taking time to help. When someone is feeling low and you comfort them that is serving. Serving is about being a extension of the heart of God by reaching out your hand to care. When we serve others God’s power fills us to overflow with His joy and His heart. Everyday look for needs that you can meet in others even if it is as simple as giving a hug, encouraging them, helping them with a task, taking them to lunch, or whatever is in your heart to do for them.
So the question is…are we powered up? or are we powerless? If we want to tap into the power of God we have to get plugged into Him. So get charged and get connected.
