James 4:7 (NIV) – Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
You are in a fight! A fight for your purpose & potential. Understand that you were created with a specific function in mind. You were not created on an assembly line, you were created by a master-craftsman who formed you together for a unique reason. And your potential is limitless, because you were created by a limitless Creator. You have no limits except the ones you place on yourself.
But you must recognize that because you were created with purpose & potential you have an enemy. An adversary who wants to distract, discourage, and destroy your life. If you are not careful, you will fall prey to his web of dissension. The last thing we want to do is allow the enemy to steal what is rightfully ours. So you have a choice…you can either RESIST or ASSIST!
Some people are assistant what the enemy wants for us. They do this by allowing toxic attitudes, behaviors, and fears to consume them. If you give the enemy an inch and he’ll take a mile.
Ephesians 4:27 (NIV)
Do not give the devil a foothold.
Too many people are assisting their own demise. They are allowing negative thoughts & actions slip in through the cracks of their life. The problem is not that we have struggles…the problem is allowing those struggles to have us. We all face temptations and thoughts that bombard us, it’s what we do with those temptations and thoughts that makes the difference. Allowing ourselves to give time and energy to play out the temptations and thoughts is where we start to assist the enemy. We have to learn the art of letting go. Quit allowing the enemy to steal your joy and determination. Quit identifying yourself with these things. We all have negative thoughts at times, but don’t let it define you. So many people feel guilty and shameful over their struggles, but allow the mercy and grace of God to sustain you in your time of need.
Learn how to RESIST the enemy by letting negative thoughts roll on out as fast as they rolled in. Don’t give them time to take root and they will eventually die out. If you feed the beast it will grow. Starve your negative thoughts so they shrink and they will eventually dissipate. Resisting the devil is about ignoring his tactics. The enemy can’t have a place if you don’t engage him. He feeds off of fear, guilt, and shame, don’t play his game. Understand that you are not your own, you’ve been bought with a price; you are hidden in Christ.
Colossians 3:3 (NIV)
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
So my question to you is…have you been resisting or assisting the enemy? Take inventory of your life and make sure you are not feeding the beast by assisting him. Resist the enemy and he WILL flee. It is only a matter of time…that is a promise from God…hang in there!
