Is Jesus the main thing at church or are you? Do you go to church because it’s all about you? Or is it all about Jesus? The church is a place of God’s people gathering to know Him and make Him known in all the earth. So many times we come to church with our heads hung down waiting for someone to notice us. But if we come to church to be lifted up who is it all about? Rather we need to come to church to lift others up and most importantly lift the name of Jesus up. As we lift others up we will be lifted up as well. We all have something to bring when we come together.
1 Corinthians 14:26
What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
We all have a part to play in this thing called, “church”. We need to come to church serving others and bringing what God is doing in us. If we all came to church to serve each other everyone would be served wouldn’t they? We can’t forget what the “church” is all about. Too many times we get caught up in going through the rituals and forget the relationship we have with God. So many churches try to manufacture God’s presence rather than let God’s presence flow. We get so caught up in committees, boards, and church politics we forget what we are doing and why we are doing it. Church should be a vibrant, loving, fun, life-giving place that always points back to Jesus. When we get more uptight about polices and traditions than we do about lives connecting with an amazing God we have forgotten Jesus. I wonder how many churches are still operating not knowing that Jesus has left the building? Church should be a place that is a reflection of the heart of God. There is no room for attitudes and egos to slip in. There is no room for territorial wars and ministries competing. The church should be beating with the heartbeat of God. A heartbeat that beats for the lost and the broken in our communities. We can’t forget why we even have church, it’s ALL about His business and that is people. When church becomes more about programs and procedures we miss the point of why Jesus came. He came to connect people back to the father. If our ministries aren’t connecting people to the father we need to seriously rethink what we are doing. The church should be the most vibrant force in our communities.
