Some of the greatest discoveries of our time have come through experimenting with the unknown. It is in the exploration of new ideas that we uncover unknown possibilities. Just imagine if the early explorers would have stopped exploring, or inventors stopped inventing, or artist stopped creating. All greatness comes from the willingness to step out and experiment with new mediums.
- So what is your medium?
- What is it that you do?
No matter what field of work you are in if you want to go further you will have to experiment. This may come in the form of ideas, business opportunities, finances, relationships, etc… If you want to experience new things you have to be willing to try new things. Never get stuck in the mode of always doing what you’ve always done. Don’t get stale with the medium you use.
Here are some tips to help you experiment…
1. Play With Possibilities
Start to tinker around with new ideas, new systems, and new opportunities. Begin to think outside the box that you’ve always thought in. Take a specific topic and start to study it, see what others are doing, brainstorm in that one train of thought. Bunny trail down the road of absurd and outrageous possibilities. Don’t limit your thinking just because it is beyond your current level of awareness. Most people kill innovation in their life by dismissing anything that is beyond what they think they can do. True innovators push their limits.
2. Don’t Fear Failure
If you fear failed experiments you will never try new things. If you are afraid to lose you will never truly win. Greatness requires some sacrifices. The sacrifices are fear and pride. All negative forces stem from those 2 elements. However, when you die to fear and pride, you come alive with faith and humility. When faith and humility guide you, you will open up new doors of possibilities. Never be afraid to experiment with your future for the sake of being comfortable with you present.
3. Don’t Stop
Experiments take trial after trial after trial…that’s is how you learn. A child would never learn to walk if they didn’t keep falling again and again. It is thought the experiences of falling that a child discovers how to keep balance and develop the strength to walk. If you give up every single time something goes wrong you will never open the door to new possibilities. Most new possibilities don’t manifest after the first door you walk through…it is through the first door that leads to another…that leads to another…that leads to another…that leads to great potential. If you stop too short you will miss something amazing.
