January is a great time to start with a fresh new method of leadership. It is a perfect time to reset the buttons and implement new ways of moving forward. Because of the natural time of year to start fresh I am issuing a challenge to ALL leaders to be reborn. What I mean by this is to rebirth your leadership with a fresh new makeover. This is a great time to implement the things you have always wanted to do with your leadership. We all have ideas, strategies, and attitudes that we want to use but never seem to actually use. I am saying this is the year to step out and start doing the things you’ve always wanted to do…no excuses.
I have coached many leaders in my programs over the years and the one thing they all have in common is the desire to be more than they currently are. They all have specific things they want to do, or behave with, but these things always seem to stay hidden in the closet. This is the year to be, do, and say the things you have always wanted to. Take a leap of faith to commitment and pull out the things you know you should have always been doing.
Here are some examples…
- Start writing the encouraging notes to your team like you’ve always wanted to do.
- Implement a new way to conduct the meetings you lead in the way you’ve wanted to.
- Start spending more time with the individuals on your team in order to spur them on.
- Delegate more responsibility to your team and see what they can do.
- Bring in a coach, speaker, or trainer to have team building sessions to raise productivity with your team.
- Plan that retreat you’ve always wanted to have with your team leaders.
- Start displaying the attitude and confidence you’ve always wanted to.
- Change the old systems that have held you back from moving forward
The list can go on and on…it is up to you. My challenge is for you to implement at least 2 new “things” that you are going to do this year that will elevate your influence and leadership. They can be simple ideas to big bold moves…it is up to you. Whatever you do though, commit to do something. Don’t go another year just doing the same things you have always done. The results you are getting are a result of how you have previously done things. If you want a different result you have to change what you are currently doing. The results you are getting are a direct result of your current model of leadership. If you want to raise the results, you have to raise your model of leadership. Change the model…and you will change the result.
What are the 2 things you are going to do this next year to raise your leadership effectiveness?
