James 1:13-15
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
James is giving us the power and progression of thought. Make no mistake, everything begins and ends with a thought. This is why your mind is the most powerful force of blessing or curse, prosperity or poverty, winning or losing. Your thoughts are the determining factor of your future.

Notice, the ancient author says, each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire. This desire he is referencing is the power of a thought. And after desire (or a thought) has conceived, it gives birth. James is showing us the progression of our realities. Like the process of life, a woman’s egg (ovum) and a sperm must come together for a child to be born. Our thoughts must come together with belief for a reality to be birthed.
The future is an overflow of thought & belief. This is why our thinking is so monumental when it comes to fulfilling the destiny God has set out for us; it starts in the mind. James shows us the power of sin and negative thinking, but what if we can reverse the polarity of our thinking? We can use the power of thought to birth an amazing future! Instead of allowing evil desires to conceive in our minds, we can allow faith-filled thoughts to conceive in our minds and give birth to an abundant future.
Instead of being dragged away by negative desires, what would happen if we are caught up in Godly ambition? What if we consumed our minds with belief? I can tell you what will happen…it will give birth to life, and not just life, but life more abundantly as Jesus talked about in John 10:10.
We must put to death the thoughts that are hurting our future and start to give life to the faith-filled thoughts of our potential. Remember, thoughts will come in good and bad; it’s what we believe about them that will allow them to take root or conceive as James says. You can’t control what comes into your mind, but you can control what you believe. And what you believe about those thoughts will birth that reality. If you keep believing discouraging thoughts, you’ll experience a discouraging life. But if you keep thinking faith-filled thoughts, you will experience a faith-filled future. This is why Paul gives us this great wisdom in Philippians 4:8.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Take the thinking challenge and start to check your thoughts throughout the day. Make sure you never allow negative, destructive, and evil thoughts to mix with your belief. Reject that thinking and start to believe God’s truth about you. See how your future will begin to literally change for the better!
