The more innovative you want to be the more you have to stretch yourself. Innovators stop innovating when they get stuck in environments that don’t foster innovation. Innovators need environment, meaning they need a greenhouse for their production. Let me put in this way…this is a section from my new book FAITHOLOGY…
We will only grow to the size that our environment allows. If we place ourselves in small environments of opportunity that offer only minimal challenges, we will never grow beyond that level; however, if we push ourselves into more challenging situations and environments that have the potential for new levels of growth, our faith will expand. Just as fish are restricted in growth by their environment, so too can we limit our potential for growth by our environment. Who and what you surround yourself with will determine the person you will one day be. If you surround yourself with the average, you will only become average; but if you surround yourself with the great, you too will become great. Many people never reach their full potential because they are stuck in an environment lacking the necessary opportunities to reach that potential. When our dreams become bigger than our environment allows, we need to start seeking a new terrain. When you plant a tree in a small pot, it will stop growing once it reaches the walls of the pot. The tree is not the problem. It’s the environment that is limiting the growth. To grow the tree, you have to put it in an environment that will allow it to develop without borders. Napoleon Hill said, “We begin to see, therefore, the importance of selecting our environment with the greatest of care, because environment is the mental feeding ground out of which the food that goes into our minds is extracted.”
