God’s call on your life will always involve your predetermined passions. In fact, your passion helps reveal your purpose in life. That’s the reason why you gravitate toward certain areas of ministry but not others. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be; simply look within to discover where your passions lie. Life is too short to live without doing something you’re passionate about.
Find what energizes you, what excites you, what engulf’s you. Leonardo da Vinci said, “Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.” If everything you do drains your energy and is ineffective, you may need to rethink what you do. When you are operating in your sweet spot, it will ignite you within.
Purpose often unfolds when you identify a problem or frustration that needs to be resolved. The distinguishing characteristic, though, is your passion to enact change or improvement upon it. You will never bother to change something you aren’t passionate about. The things you are passionate about grip you with an urgency that something must be done. These areas are usually tied into your skillset or gifting.
Another way to identify your passions is to reflect on what you read about, think about, or ask questions about. Also, consider what energizes you. Do you like to be in front of people or behind the scenes? Do you prefer to exert physical or mental energy? These insights will help you identify your true passion.
How would you answer the question, “What are you passionate about?”
Now, begin to surround yourself with opportunities that will help make a difference in that area.
