“I am just a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.”
~ Mother Theresa ~
We all love a good story. We will sit through hours of movies, read books, and listen to others share to experience a story that draws us in. Stories are powerful, they take us somewhere. The reality is we ALL have a story and we ALL are writing our story day by day. Our story is one that is penned by the experiences we have and impact we make. As each day passes by, so another page is added to our story of life. Each page and chapter is significant to the book (life) we will make and the story we leave behind. Some have left a short book, while others are able to write a long book. But the length is not as important as the story within it. We have the choice each day to create a great story. The words and plot on each page is decided by the choices we make. We do not know what is going to happen in the next page or chapter of our life but we need to faithfully continue to write it by making the right choices.
Each day is an opportunity to allow God to use us. We are the pencil and God is the writer. When we make the choices each day to surrender to God’s plans and ways then He uses us to create a great story. It is our responsibility to be available and mindful of what God would have us do each day. This means our attitudes, actions, words, thoughts, and time should be directed by God’s leading.
Our story will be filled with all kinds of action. This story is filled with romance, humor, suspense, tragedy, triumph, horror, and more. Life is an epic story to say the least. This week I want to take each blog post and talk about how to make our life a great story. I believe there are many things we can do each day to create our story but I want to focus in on a few that are vital. Here is the first rule to live by…
Always make your FUTURE bigger than your PAST
So many people live their life in the past, they stare out the rearview mirror of life never looking at what lies ahead. We are bound to wreck if we are always looking behind us. It is alright to glance back to be aware and learn from what is in our past, but we must keep our eyes forward in order to succeed. Keeping our eyes forward is about seeing our future the way it CAN be. The past is already written we can’t change that, but we can choose what our story will be today and tomorrow. We can use the past to create a better future.
“Though you can’t go back and make a brand new start my friend you can start now and make a brand new end.”
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a FUTURE.”
Tips to make your future bigger than your past…
1. Forgive YOURSELF and OTHERS
2. LEARN from your mistakes and success
3. Make each day your MASTERPIECE
