Spiritual Clarity: How to Shift Your Thinking and Discover God’s Will (Part 3)

Part 1 – The Power of Perspective

Part 2 – Seeing Through God’s Lens

Part 3 – The 360° Perspective

Where Are You Looking?

Most of us live life with tunnel vision. We’re focused on problems, distractions, and what’s right in front of us, without taking a step back to see the full picture.

But true perspective requires three views:

  1. Look Up – See God’s perspective.
  2. Look In – See yourself as God sees you.
  3. Look Out – See others through God’s love.

Let’s break these down.

1. Look Up – See God First

Colossians 3:2 says:

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

How you view God determines everything else. Do you see Him as distant and demanding or as a loving Father who is guiding you?

Some people see only God’s judgment (the lion of Judah), while others only see His grace (the Lamb of God). The truth is, He is both. We must live in the balance of truth and grace.

2. Look In – See Yourself as God Sees You

Many of us struggle with self-worth. We either:

  • Feel too proud – We think we have everything figured out.
  • Feel too unworthy – We believe we aren’t enough.

The truth is in the middle. You are valuable, but you also need God.

Proverbs 23:7 reminds us: “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

If you think small, you’ll live small. If you think faith-filled, you’ll live in faith.

3. Look Out – See Others Through Love

Jesus told us to love our enemies. But most of us either:

  • Fight our enemies (we argue, criticize, push away)
  • Flee from our enemies (we avoid, ignore, and isolate)

Jesus said there’s another way: love them.

Proverbs 27:17 says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Even difficult people in your life serve a purpose—they sharpen you. Your perspective on others will determine how you treat them.

Final Warning: Don’t Look Down

Here’s the biggest danger: Don’t look down.

Psalms 3:3 says: “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”

Looking down means:

  • Worrying about circumstances instead of trusting God.
  • Dwelling in fear instead of faith.
  • Focusing on problems instead of promises.

Instead, keep your head up. God is lifting your perspective so you can see what He sees.
