I enjoy playing golf, though I must admit I am not very good at it. I have settled in my heart to be the one on the course that provides the comic relief. Not because of my jokes, but because of my inability to be a golfer. My rule in golf is to be as far from the ball after I hit it that I can. Usually, for me, that means about ten feet. But I do know that how you approach the golf ball and line up your feet and body determine how well you will hit the ball. In golf it is all about approach and lining yourself up.
Life is similar to that in golf, we must align ourselves up to the life we have been called to live. Success is about aligning ourselves up to be who God has called us to be. When you stand before God one day He will not judge you based on if you were like your father, He will not judge you based on if you were like your pastor, He will not judge you based on if you were like Mother Teresa. He will judge you based on who you were called to be.
Your standard is not BASED on what OTHER people do, it is based on who God called you to be.
John 10:10
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Jesus said that He came to bring us life, but not just life, life more abundantly. There is a big difference between life and abundant life. Life is simply surviving where as abundant life is thriving. So what side of the comma do you live on? Do you life on the left side of the comma and just have life? Or do you live on the right side of the comma and have abundant life?
Abundant life is not graded on a curve, it is graded on our potential. When we live up to our potential, we live a life of success and significance. Success is when we have lined up our life to the fullest. Significance is when we inspire others to live their life to the fullest.
It is not always easy to live out our potential. There will be days that seem harder than others, and there will be days that challenge you. But remember through it all, that patience will lead you to victory and will bring about the greatest good. You may be going through rough waters right now, but know this…Whenever God guides, He provides. He will not leave you out to ruin, He will accomplish all He has for you when you surrender to His ways. Hang in there and speak life over your situations. Radio personality Paul Harvey said, “You can always tell when you are on the road to success, as it is uphill all the way.”
We are all on a journey. Make sure you are going where you were meant to go, becoming you who you were meant to be, and doing what you were meant to do!
