I love living…I mean have you ever just thought about your life. Sometimes I just stop and ponder the fact that I am alive and a person. That I have feelings, purpose, thoughts, and desires. I know that sounds pretty weird I guess, but I am cool with being weird. Life is a beautiful work of art. Or should I say should be. Sometimes we turn it into a mess though don’t we? What was meant to be a masterpiece of our life, sometimes end up getting splattered with all kinds of junk. I guess sin ultimately stained our canvas and distorted the art of living. That’s why Jesus said in John 10:10, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Life is not an equation. You don’t just punch in some routine and get the same results every time. Just like an artist never paints the exact same painting the same way, our lives are a new adventure each and every day. Yes, we have routines and schedules that are similar each day, but what happens in the midst is ever changing. We have the opportunity each day to step closer to our dreams and become who God has called us to be. Life is an equal opportunity project that everyone gets to experience, but not everyone equally gets the most out of it. We have a choice to make each day. Are we going to take the time to live life to the fullest? The legendary basketball coach John Wooden once said,
“There is a choice you have to make in everything you do, so keep in mind that in the end that choice you make makes you.”
Our choice to live life to the fullest determines our approach to each and every day. Are we approaching life to be the best God has called us to be? Or are we approaching life with no real plan? Are we making the right choices that will bring about the best results? Everyday is a gift to us to use. So use it wisely. Determine today that you are going to squeeze the most out of life.
I HATE to go to bed, let me rephrase that…I despise with great passion going to bed. Though I know it is a necessity for rest and health, I always feel that I could be so much more productive than just snoozing. My parents always tell the story about how when I was little they would put me to bed, but then I would peek my little head around the corner into the living room. I would get in trouble and be sent back to bed, but the process would happen again and again and again and again. I guess I just knew at a young age that I could be doing so much more than sleeping. I think the reason I am such a late-nighter is that I truly want to use every ounce of time I have to live life. I am so thankful that God put a desire within us to enjoy this life He created for us. I want to honor Him and live life gratefully, faithfully, and productively.
So I guess the challenge to all of us is…Learn the art of living and make it your masterpiece for yourself, for others, and most importantly for God who gave you the gift of life in the first place.
