Part 2: Expecting the Supernatural in Your Life
In our last post, part 1, we discussed the foundation of the supernatural in Christianity. Now, we turn our attention to the importance of expecting the supernatural in our daily lives. Expectancy is not just wishful thinking; it’s a powerful element of faith that positions us to receive from God.
The Role of Expectancy in Faith
Expecting the supernatural is about having faith that God will move in your life. In Matthew 9, we see an example of this when Jesus encounters two blind men. He asks them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” When they respond affirmatively, He says, “According to your faith, let it be done to you,” and their sight is restored. The key here is that their healing was directly connected to their expectation. They believed Jesus could heal them, and their faith opened the door for the supernatural to occur.
Belief Drives Behavior
Our beliefs shape our behaviors, and our behaviors determine the outcomes we experience in life. If you believe that God can and will move supernaturally in your life, you will live in a way that reflects that belief. You will step out in faith, take risks, and make decisions based on the expectation that God is working on your behalf.
However, if you lack this expectation, you will find yourself stuck and hesitant to move forward or take action. Just as those blind men had to take the initiative to approach Jesus, we must also take steps of faith, trusting that God will meet us in our time of need.
The Power of Faith-Filled Expectations
Jesus often spoke about the importance of faith and expectancy. In Mark 11:24, he said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” This does not guarantee that we will always get what we think we need, but it is a call to approach God with the expectation that He is able and willing to act to meet our needs.
When we expect the supernatural, we align ourselves with God’s purposes. We open ourselves up to the possibilities of what He can do in our lives, which will be beyond anything we could ever accomplish on our own.
Expecting the supernatural means living with a constant awareness that God is able to intervene in our lives in powerful ways. It’s about having faith that goes beyond what we see and trusting that God can and will move in our circumstances.
In the next post, we will discuss how to prepare for these supernatural interventions and what it means to create space in our lives for God to work.
