Not long ago our family went to a water park for a getaway. While at the water park, our youngest daughter, Allie, was scared to go down the “big slide” (as pictured above). Eventually she mustered enough courage to attempt it. After she went down the first time, she said, “I’ve been missing so much fun this whole time?” On our way up for another go at it, I asked her if she was super scared a few minutes ago when she went down the slide for the first time. She answered “Yes” with wide eyes. I then said, “But now you aren’t scared anymore are you?” Expecting her to have overcome the fear, her reply caught me off guard. She said, “No, I am still scared, but I want to go down anyway!”
When courage resides in someone’s heart, they are bolder, stronger, and more effective in all that they do. Their bravery will push them to overcome any obstacles that stand in their way. Courage overrides fear as it motivates an individual to do things they never thought they could do. God has called us to be people of courage.
Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Courage does not always come easily. Most people don’t know what great potential for courageousness they actually have. This potential rests within them, but they live life in self-doubt, fear, and unbelief. Courage is NOT the absence of fear, is the absence of SELF! Self, causes us to think we are alone. It causes us to think we don’t have what it takes. The truth is…on our own we are LIMITED, but through Christ who strengthens us we are LIMITLESS!
The question today is…are you a courageous one? Are you a bold, brave, believer, and follower of Christ? Do you step out in faith or shrink back in fear when God puts a dream in your heart? God will not lead you to where He will not provide for you. You can always rest assure that where God points He anoints! Never let your fear keep you from the life God has planned for you. Punch fear in the face and declare that God is your strength and help who holds you with His righteous hand!
The water park was made to enjoy…so don’t fear the water park of life.
