Fear is a powerful force that can disrupt our life. It is responsible for almost every problem we face.
The word fear comes from the Old English word faer, meaning sudden ambush or attack. That is exactly what fear does; it attacks our faith. It keeps us from living out our full potential.
Here is a hard truth we have to understand:
What you FEAR the most is where you TRUST the least.
The issue is not an abundance of fear…it’s a lack of trust. Fear is the symptom and lack of trust is the root. When we don’t trust God, fear is what is left. It is like darkness. You don’t produce darkness, it is just what exists in the absence of light. Fear is what exists in the absence of trusting God. The more fear you hold, the less trust you have in God.
So what do you fear the most? I can tell you it’s where you trust God the least. But this isn’t altogether bad. We certainly don’t want a lack of trust, but fear is an indicator of where we need to elevate our faith. So there can be good that comes from fear in that we know what areas we need to work on. We know what areas we need to grow our faith and trust.
Mark Twain said, “Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain.” You see, the more we step out in faith and trust God the less power fear has over us. Do it and do it afraid, and soon enough you’ll do it unafraid. Our faith and trust grow as we step out and go. Once we begin to see the faithfulness of God, we will start to realize He is always there for us.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
You and I can trust God with everything. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will never let us down and you can take that to the bank and cash it!
Don’t allow fear to steal your future. Don’t allow it to ambush your destiny. Remember: Where God guides He always provides. If He called you to it, He will see you through it. Where is fear keeping you from greater things? Identify it and start to raise your trust meter and see what God does as a result!
