Psalm 100:4
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.
Worship involves listening to God. After entering His courts with thanksgiving and praise, we then enter His throne room where He shares the secrets of His heart. This is the place where God begins to speak to us. What an amazing thought, to think that the Creator of the Universe wants to commune and converse with us. Did you know God desires to talk with us? Jesus said,
John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
When we enter His presence, all other voices become silent. Everything else fades away when we are close to His heart. The world is a noisy place. There are many voices calling to us and telling us what to do and who to be. But when we draw close to the heart of God there is a special place within us that resonates with His voice. A gentle whisper that we can learn to hear.
1 Kings 19:11, 12
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
The more we become the worshiper we are called to be, the more we learn to hear God’s voice. Just like the baby that learns to communicate as it grows older, the more we grow as a worshiper, the more we learn how to communicate with God. I think God is always talking to us but the question is…are we listening? We have to learn to tune into His frequency and to quiet all of the other static in life.
Worship tunes us into His presence and the reception becomes clear.
