You are a worship leader who inspires others through praise evangelism!
So how does this idea of praise evangelism work? Well, you simply talk about the faithfulness and holiness of God. You talk about how God has impacted your life and it becomes a beautiful song to others. You don’t have to preach at those who do not know Christ. You don’t even have to necessarily talk to them about what they need to change in their lives. You simply need to focus on lifting up the name of Jesus and talking about Him. The rest is up to the Holy Spirit. Our responsibility is to speak of the wonders of God, not to save the world. Remember…we aren’t the Savior, only Jesus is. We do not save people, the Holy Spirit removes the veil from their eyes, not us. Our job is to point people to Jesus!
Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
So how does faith come? By hearing. How will they hear unless we speak of the things of God? Saint Francis of Assisi’s quote, “Preach the gospel, and if necessary use words” is quite famous. I appreciate and understand the value this quote is giving to our actions, and I agree our actions are serious business. But I can’t deny that faith comes by hearing. There is nothing to hear if no one is talking. Worship Leaders talk about things that give glory to God and point others toward Him. They don’t draw attention to themselves, they put all praise and honor on God. They talk about God’s faithfulness so that others hear and develop their own faith.
So there you have it, you are a Worship Leader whether you accept the title or not. Now you have the choice to embrace the responsibility and use it for the glory of God, or to settle for whatever title the world gives you. The Sons of Liberty of the American Revolution saw their responsibility as a calling, not a job. They were driven by a conviction to live in freedom and make life the best it could be for their families and their community. I would challenge all of us to see our responsibility as Worship Leaders as a calling, not a job. To live with a conviction for freedom and to make life the best it can be for our families and communities, through Christ. Let’s embrace the calling to take a stand as revolutionists and lead others into the presence of God through an authentic lifestyle of being a Worship Leader. Imagine if Worship Leaders began to rise up all around the world speaking of the greatness of God daily. There would be a choir singing the beautiful sound of the name of Jesus for the world to hear.
